For Those Who Love To Play
Grand Slam USA is organizing its 12th annual Fall Baseball League. The league is for 9th through 12th graders who have a sincere desire to improve their
baseball skills. It will start August 23th, 2009. We will be playing one nine-inning game for eight consecutive Sundays. The eighth week of league play will
be the first round of the tournament. Four teams will advance to play on October 18th. The cost to each player is $225.00. We will try to make up all
rainouts.
We are hoping for around 104-130 players, which would be divided into eight to ten teams with thirteen players on a team. All games will be played in the
Des Moines area so travel will be held to a minimum.
We are looking for players who are serious about improving their game and willing to take instruction. On that note, we must mention that the only real
drawback in last year’s fall was the sporadic attendance of some players. This caused us to shorten the length of some games and was truly not fair to the
kids that were always there. This fall, attendance will be monitored closely. If a player has chosen to come to games only when he feels like playing, that
individual could be asked to hand in his uniform, no refund!
So, we can have a good idea of the number of players that will be participating, we need your registration form and $225.00 back by July 1, 2009. We will
be contacting you by August 2nd in regards to when and where we will be holding our league meeting. At this meeting we will distribute rosters, schedules
and rules.
We will quickly recap what the Grand Slam Fall League will provide:
• 8 to 10 games (we will try to make up all rainouts)
• 2 certified umpires per game
• 1 qualified coach per team
• All games played in the Des Moines area on high school fields
• Pitch counts kept at every game
Thank you for your time and if you have any questions, please call me at (515) 278-1070. The Grand Slam coaching staff is looking forward to seeing you
this fall. Come and join us and let’s have fun playing the original national pastime, Baseball!
